D. Wayne Moore

D. Wayne Moore is a Poquoson, Virginia native and a long-time asset to the legal community of Hampton Roads, serving in active private law practice since 1967, primarily in the fields of real estate, business, and estate planning and administration, and related litigation, and as part-time City Attorney for the City of Poquoson, and Commissioner of Accounts for York County.

Mr. Moore has lived his entire life in Poquoson, Virginia, except for seven years in Charlottesville, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 1960, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1967.

Mr. Moore was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of Virginia in 1967, and also to practice before the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Moore’s private practice in

Mr. Moore has focused on Estate Planning; Wills and Trusts; Business Law; Real Estate Closings; Real Estate Foreclosures; Residential and Commercial Real Estate; Contract Litigation; and Business Law matters such as Incorporations, Limited Liability Companies, and Advice to Business Owners and Entities.

Mr. Moore is a Member of the Real Estate, and Litigation Sections of the Virginia State Bar, and a Past President of the Newport News Bar Association. From 2003-2005, he served as Chairman of the Virginia Conference of Commissioners of Accounts.

In his service as the part-time Poquoson City Attorney since 1997, and as the York County Commissioner of Accounts since 1988, Mr. Moore has been called for advice on a wide array of legal issues that come before the city, staff, and city council, and in reviewing estates and trusts probated and administered in the local area.

In addition, Mr. Moore has taken an active interest in working with the Economic Development Authority for Poquoson. Mr. Moore is a travel and golf enthusiast and is a proud alumnus of the University of Virginia. He has been published in the Legal Elite feature of Virginia Business magazine, which requests prominent lawyers with experience in 15 separate legal categories to nominate lawyers for inclusion in Virginia’s Legal Elite, in consultation with the Virginia Bar Association. Mr. Moore has earned an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell.
